Additionally, we ask that you complete this electives interest form that will keep the counseling staff up to date on your intentions: Audition Requirements are listed below:

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Each year, the VHS participates in “end of the year” auditions to help place students within the program. For eighth graders interested in joining the music program at Ventura High School, this is also an opportunity for me to meet with you personally and help place you in the appropriate ensemble. Below are the listed requirements that will be evaluated if you are auditioning for the Honors Wind Ensemble II or Wind Ensemble I or the advanced String Orchestra. If not auditioning for the either, your current director will choose an appropriate list of audition materials for me to hear, including solos and scales. Students not placing into Wind Ensemble or String Orchestra will be placed in Concert Band or String Ensemble. Woodwind/Brasswind Students interested in performing with the Studio Jazz Ensemble are advised to participate in Wind Ensemble/Concert Band. Please note, you only need to prepare the outlined sections indicated on the Cycle D Instructions Page.
