PAUL HUNT, DIRECTOR
Paul Hunt has served as Director of Instrumental Music at Ventura High School since 2010, where he has led the continued growth and excellence of the school's instrumental music program. In 2014, he helped re-establish the Ventura Youth Symphony and has since served as its Co-Director, providing young musicians with high-quality orchestral performance and educational opportunities.
Mr. Hunt earned a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from California State University, Northridge in 2007, where he also completed his California Single Subject Teaching Credential. He later earned a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction and holds a Career Technical Education (CTE) Credential in Arts, Media, and Communication.
Mr. Hunt maintains an active freelance career as a trombonist. He has performed with numerous orchestras, opera companies, and theater productions, including the Rubicon Theatre Company and the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra.
Committed to excellence in music education and professional development, Mr. Hunt is an active member of several leading professional organizations, including the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA), California Alliance for Jazz (CAJ), California Band Directors Association (CBDA), American String Teachers Association (ASTA), International Trombone Association (ITA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
The ensembles under his direction consistently earn superior ratings and state and national festivals. In his free time, he develops his skills as a lighting designer and technician, is an avid cat enthusiast, and DIYer.
